FAQs

How do I obtain a referral?

Your GP, or other specialist, can make a referral to Mr Atkin who will arrange a consultation for you. An online referral form is available for your GP in the ‘Appointments’ section.

I do not live in the UK, can I still make an appointment?

Enquiries from overseas patients are welcome, and we can help finding local accommodation.

I do not have private health insurance, can I still make an appointment?

Yes. If you are self-paying, please contact Mr Atkin’s secretary for details on the likely fees for your treatment. We require full payment prior to any treatment.

What should I expect?

During your consultation with Mr Atkin, you will be asked questions about your symptoms and you will have an examination. The options for treatment and the risks involved will be outlined, and the next steps will be explained to you. Following the consultation, Mr Atkin will write to the referring doctor and you will receive a copy of the letter. This will remind you of the issues discussed during the consultation.

What should I bring with me?

It would be useful if you could bring along your referral letter and any x-rays you have had or test results for this condition. A list of your current medications or drug allergies would also be helpful.

Where can I make an appointment?

Mr Atkin sees patients at Spire Bushey Hospital, which is located near Watford. Please see the Appointments page for further information.
